A Photographic Tour: On Deck

The ship's current bowsprit, stretching out from the bow, perhaps reaching for the sea. The sprit's length has changed a lot throughout her life. Originally, it was the same length as the sprit she has today, but it was cut down to about half it's length in the 1930s, and again following WW2. Kenneth Kennedy then doubled it's length and it was originally replaced with a new bowsprit by the Merseys

Two hawsepipes, port and starboard, served each respective anchor. The anchors are long gone, but this is one reminder that they were once here in working order.

The ship's windlass. Used to heave up and lower the ship's anchor.

View of the bow, looking forward. Visible are the windlass, crew quarters hatch, chain locker hatch, and bowsprit.

A Photographic Tour: Chain Locker

Here we see the hatch leading into the anchor chain locker.

Inside the chain locker. The room is bare. A single ladder leads down onto the decked floor. The space may have been used to store one of the ship's generators installed by Kenneth Kennedy.

A Photographic Tour: Forwrd Crew Quarters

Hatch leading to the crew space.

Looking down from the aft end of the hatch. The deck below the crew space was a water/ballast tank.

Looking down, towards port.

A note reading 'CERTIFIED TO ACCOMMODATE 4 SEAMEN' stamped on the port inside wall of the hatch. Kenneth Kennedy later increased the capacity of this space to at least 6.
