Week 3 - 13/03/2024
- March 13th marked what was one of the most significant dates in her deconstruction, as a significant portion of the bow and stern were both cut free and removed from the ship. The bow was cut just forward of her name, directly on the line which was cut previously that I have shown in other sections on this page, and it ran down to the floor of her forward crew space. Photos of the hull [Photos 1 to 6] and the bow itself [Photos 7, 8, 9, 11, and 12] are attached below. As for the stern, the fantail was cut out separately [Photos 7, 8, 9, 13, and 14], along with a slither of her aft port side freeboard [Photo 10]. The original wooden side supports have also been removed and the new metal ones installed in week 1 have been moved up to take their place. [Photo 5]
Both pieces sat on the quayside after their removal, awaiting further transfer. movements of these pieces will be (hopefully) documented later. Balustrades have been put up on the bow as there is now deck leading to nowhere. [Photos 1, 2, 5, and 6]
